HECK YES YOU ARE, BABY
Archetypes were first introduced by famous psychologist Carl Jung way back in the 1940’s.
If you wanna’ know more about the Jung’s theory, you can read my post over here, or you could just Google it because there are about a gajillion and one articles out there that talk about them.
So instead of trying to summarize his life’s work, this page is my version of how you can apply these babies to your business & life.
Let’s dive the heck in.
Challenges the status quo
Passionate and empowered
Unafraid to take risks
To inspire radical change
To do things differently/better
To be free from establishment
Can be destructive/dangerous
Easy to “cross the line”
Often alienates friends/supporters
Being weak or powerless
Being seen as boring
Being seen as a sellout

I love me some Mavericks. I’m always drawn to them. I think it’s because they aren’t scared to say all the things I want to say. But I’m workin’ on that.
I think sometimes they get a bad rap, but they’re mostly just misunderstood. Luckily, they don’t care.
Oh how I want to be best friends with Mark.
His first book is called “The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” and it’s freaking amazing. I read it in like, 2 days. Then I read it again immediately. His second book is equally as awesome. And I’m subscribed to his articles. I’d subscribe twice if that meant anything.

Fictional Characters
Did you know that the archetypes all have a “shadow side” too? That’s why I’m showin’ ya the GOOD and the BAD side, so make sure to hover over the imagesto learn how each character fits the Maverick Archetype.
Mulan
Mavericks don’t just break rules for the hell of it. They’re agents of change. And Mulan is no exception. She isn’t afraid to do whatever it takes to protect her family. Even pretending she’s a dude.
Sid Phillips
I’m all for kids being a little rebellious and pushing boundaries. But Sid catapulted over “the line” into out-of-freaking-control territory. He’s sadistic, destructive, and generally just a dick.
Jessica Jones
I’m totally in love with Jessica and her shitty attitude. She does whatever she wants. She never does anything she doesn’t wanna’ do. But she still cares deeply about her friends. Plus she wears a bitchin’ leather jacket.
Elektra Natchios
Yeah, sometimes Elektra is bad. But sometimes she’s not. She pretty much just does whatever she feels like doing and she doesn’t really care what anyone thinks about it. She’s a badass.
Sirius Black
Sirius ain’t afraid to break aaallll the rules. He’s was a rebel from the beginning when he was sorted into Gryffindor instead of Slytherin. Then, he busted outta’ Azkaban to expose Ron’s rat for the murderous traitor he was. RIP, bro.
Lucius Malfoy
The “shadow side” of the Maverick would includes descriptors like destructive, dark or bad, out of control, and illegal. I don’t think anyone would argue that Lucius fits the bill.
Jaime Lannister
Sure, he’s got his flaws (like bangin’ his sister, among other things). And killing his boss didn’t do much for his popularity – even though he was crazy and probably deserved it – it sure as heck started a revolution.
Ramsay Bolton
He might be one of the most evil characters that has ever existed. He murders his whole family, cuts off Theon’s favorite appendage, and “takes advantage” of Sansa. Fortunately, she feeds him to some hungry dogs.

My favorite part… Music!
Myles said it’s about “living your life with no regrets. Doing what you want – doing whatever makes you happy.” Sooo…sex, drugs, and rock n roll, obviously.
Hank Williams Jr. ain’t gonna’ be held to the same standards as his daddy. He makes his own rules. He’s gonna’ drank, roll smoke, and live out all the songs he wrote.
If you don’t know me yet, you should know I’m a bit of a music snob. And I’m really proud of it.
Sure, I can appreciate the occasional pop-y song for fun, but my heart lies with the true musicians who write and play their own music.
So it’s only fitting that this is my favorite song for the Maverick Brand Archetype.
Talk about sparking a revolution.
I tried to tell you but you simply obeyed • They didn’t listen so they threw you away
Now all you do is talk • I don’t wanna hear your bullshit • Is this what you want?
